Our approaches and activities
“Full Participation and Equality of People with Disabilities”
To achieve our final goal above, we take following approaches:
1. To support Basic Education
As we believe basic education is an enabling right as well as fundamental one, we support children with disabilities both in regular and special schools in Sudan.
2. To assist and promote ICT Education
Since ICT literacy is indispensable to ensure the access to higher education for people with disabilities, we assist and promote ICT education in higher educational institutions in Sudan.
3. Promote Local Initiatives
In order to sustainably improve the educational environment for children with disabilities, we facilitate local initiatives in Sudan.
4. To promote Sports and Recreation for people with disabilities
We promote sports and recreation for people with disabilities since they encourage social inclusion of people with disabilities by leading mutual communication between people with disabilities and their communities as well as and by building self confidence.
What We Do
1. Support Basic Education
To increase the access to both to school and learning, we donate Slates and Stylus (Braille Equipments) to regulars schools and a blind school in Khartoum, in cooperation with local teachers. We also plan to hold workshops for teachers in regular schools who teach children with visual impairment for following objectives: developing skills for teaching, enforcing ownership in education, and networking teachers, specialists, as well as parents.
2. Support ITC Education
We work with university and students with disabilities to improve their learning environment by setting up resource rooms for students with disabilities by donating screen readers which reads out the screen of computers for people with visual impairment.
3. Promote Local Initiatives
We hold workshops for developing capacities of teachers, networking stakeholders, and mobilizing resources in order for sustainable movement.
4. Promote Sports Activities for people with disabilities
We donate balls with tinkle sound and hold seminars to introduce blind football since the football is the most popular sports in the country.
5. Networking for Information Sharing
Since our organization is quite new, we seek to learn from various experts, local and international DPOs, NGOs, as well as International Agencies.
Although our projects are targeting only people with visual impairment at this moment; we plan to expand our partners to include people with other disabilities in near future.
6. Information Dissemination
At the same time, we disseminate our experience and vivid situation in our fields in Sudan. Raising awareness of Sudan and education for people with disabilities is also our activities.
In Japan, we organize events such as workshops and charity party, and publish reports and booklets on our activities and lessons from the activities in Sudan.
